“I’m only 18,” she says excitedly. “I’ve got a whole life in recovery ahead of me! I’m like, dude—what great stuff is going to happen next?”

Today’s feature is David, who started drinking as a teen and began depending on alcohol for “liquid courage.” Although he became a successful lawyer, his alcohol addiction eventually lost him his job and his relationship. Luckily, he called his insurance company looking for help and was referred to Phoenix Houses of the Mid-Atlantic.  
“Treatment taught me so much,” David explains, “I’ve turned a lot of negatives into positives; I learned how to do that at Phoenix House. Sure, I’m still kind of a shy person, but that’s OK—I’m no longer afraid of who I am without a drink in my hand.”
